Conductus (2014) was written for Ernst Stolz and was composed for a gothic, medieval-style portative organ. Such an instrument is usually held on the lap, pumped with one hand, and the keyboard played with the other. When this piece is performed on other sorts of more typical organs, it should ideally be performed on a single stop: a 4‘ (or 2‘) principal of relatively narrow scaling would be the closest analogue in sound. An unequal temperament is also ideal when possible.
