Tenebrae Canticle (2001) was written for and is dedicated to Tom and Lois Dykstra, for a tenebrae service during Advent 2001 at the Rochester Christian Reformed Church, Rochester, New York. It is a dark meditation, exploring the depths of a series of pitch groups. Non-retrogradable rhythms and long-sustained textures run throughout.
