Shoreline Rune (2014) for string orchestra and harp is dedicated to composer Judith Weir on her 60th birthday. A very slow melody unfolds gradually, is broken into segments with interjections, and then reassembled again. The overall pulse is extremely slow—as if one is standing on the shore watching an entire tide cycle compressed into five elongated minutes.
