Yellow I (2008) for trumpet and trombone was written for Colby Cooman and Emily Baker.

The inspiration for the work was an oil painting, Lily Pond Summer (2008), by Loretta Yoder, depicting a scene from Nantucket Island, Massachusetts. The fervency of color drives the musical discourse. This work is one of a variety of pieces deeply connected to the landscape of Nantucket.
