Where All the Ladders Start (2008) for trumpet and vibraphone was written for and is dedicated to Louis Ranger. The work is an energetic dialogue, in which a darkly lyrical discourse is colored through the interaction of the two instruments. The title is taken from a line of W. B. Yeats.
