Tiento de batalla (2018) is dedicated to Klaus Stehling. The work’s title is taken from Iberian music of late Renaissance/early baroque. Pieces of this title (“battle piece”) were characterized by their loose musical imitation of battle sounds by means of repeated and forceful chords/harmonies and by the use of the very powerful reed colors that are typical of Iberian organs.
