Sun Songs (2008) for trumpet and violin was written for and is dedicated to Wesley and Shannon Nance. The opening movement, Toccata, bubbles with energy. The second movement, Canto, is lyrical and meditative. The final movement, March and Hymn, begins as a march, but a hymn-like idea gradually asserts itself, eventually ending the movement in tranquility.
