San Francesco a La Verna (2014) for organ was written for and is dedicated to Marco Lo Muscio. The work is inspired by Saint Francis of Assisi and his time on the mountain at La Verna (where today sits a Franciscan monastery and sanctuary dedicated to him). It is told that during his time on the mountain, St. Francis received the stigmata in 1224.
The piece is subtitled “cantus e toccata per organo” and falls into three sections: 1) San Francesco in preghiera (St. Francis in Prayer); 2) San Francesco riceve le stimmate (St. Francis receives the stigmata) and 3) San Francesco glorifica Dio (St. Francis glorifies God.)
