Rising (2010), an improvisational fantasy for organ, was commissioned by the Cathedral Church of St. Paul (Boston, Massachusetts) and is dedicated to Ed Broms.

The music is a free combination of fully notated and improvisational elements. A successful realization of the piece is a collaborative effort between the the composer (who has provided the pre-composed source material) and an improvising organist. Every parameter of the work may be interpreted with great freedom. The goal, as always, is an expressive and compelling musical experience.
