Prelude and Fugue No. 1 (2011) was commissioned by the 2011 Boston Pipe Organ Encounter. It is dedicated to composer James Woodman, whose continual reinvigoration of traditional forms is a consistent inspiration. A perky prelude in triple meter precedes a deliberate fugue. Both are based on the same musical material.
