Fantasy on “The Star-Spangled Banner” (2018) was written for organist Christoph Hintermüller who requested a work based on the national anthem of the United States of America for a concert featuring organ music based on different national anthems. The anthem’s tune comes originally from a song by British composer John Stafford Smith which was paired with a 1814 text by Francis Scott Key.
