Epicedium (2014) was written for oboist Andrew Price and organist Heinrich Christensen for the final concert of a year long celebration of the organ at King’s Chapel, Boston Massachusetts—C. B. Fisk, Op. 44 (1964).

An “epicedium” is a funeral ode, and this brief piece is an atmospheric interpretation. The organ attempts to create an acoustical atmosphere around the oboe, building a kind of amplification and resonance surrounding the solo line.
