Bogurodzica — Quasi meditatio (2021) is dedicated to Jan Bartłomiej Bokszczanin. It is based on “Bogurodzica” (Mother of God), the oldest Polish hymn (from between the 10th and 13th centuries), which has been used by various composers as a kind of “musical icon” of the Polish people and country.

The piece may be played as a companion work to Bogurodzica — Quasi fantazja (1979) by the Polish composer Marian Sawa (1937–2005). (The Sawa piece was first published in 2020 by the Marian Sawa Society in Warsaw.) If played as a pair, the Sawa piece should be played first, followed by this Cooman work. This piece may also be performed entirely separately.
