A Lenten Collect (2003) for two organs was written for the then two organs of The Memorial Church at Harvard University: a large four-manual C. B. Fisk instrument (1967; op. 46) in the front chapel and a smaller one manual and pedal instrument by Edwin Holbrook (late 19th century) in the rear gallery. (Both instruments have since been replaced by new organs.) The piece was inspired by the Collect for the Second Sunday of Lent in the Book of Common Prayer.

“O God, whose glory it is always to have mercy: Be gracious to all who have gone astray from your ways, and bring them again with penitent hearts and steadfast faith to embrace and hold fast the unchangeable truth of your Word, Jesus Christ your Son; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever.
