Madaket Morning (2004) was written for and is dedicated to composer and jazz pianist Joe Utterback, on his 60th birthday, October 8, 2004. It is a meditative and lyrical piece. The work is written entirely using “white notes.” Sections of intertwining contrapuntal lines are contrasted with homophonic chorale-like textures.
