All day the city cried:
“The king comes,
Prepare!” Awe
Of the singing! Midnight,
the cries renewed: “He is here!”
Where the star flared
We ran: there
No throne; a stable.
A Mother cold,
Shivering: at her feet
A little king, crying,
Like music awakening.
