Chorale and Courante (2008) for trumpet and contrabass was written for Colby Cooman. The opening (“Chorale”) section of the work is marked “unfolding” and develops slowly and lyrically. The second section (“Courante”) is energetic. A recollection of the opening interjects itself before a fast coda ends the piece.
